Construction Contractors Association of the Hudson Valley to Manage Southeastern New York Chapter of SMACNA

NEWBURGH, N.Y. (October 11, 2016) — The Construction Contractors Association of the Hudson Valley (CCAHV) has entered into a management agreement with SMACNA Southeastern New York, Inc. – the local chapter of the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA).
The team at CCAHV will take on the duties managed by current SMACNA Southeastern New York Executive Director Larry Sturgis, who will retire from the organization after more than 22 years of leadership.
“We are very optimistic that the CCAHV and SMACNA Southeastern New York partnership will be a strong one, as our synergies line up well together,” said Alan Seidman, Executive Director of CCAHV. “We look forward to carrying on Larry’s strong leadership. He has done an excellent job in growing this organization to where it is today.”
SMACNA is an international trade organization that represents more than 1,800 member firms across 103 different chapters, including the one in Southeastern New York. The group promotes quality and excellence in the air conditioning and sheet metal industry, including the commercial, industrial, residential and institutional markets. SMACNA assists its members with issues of labor relations, safety compliance, legislative guidance, business management, project management and technical standards development.
The Southeastern New York chapter of SMACNA serves members in Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester counties, as well as Fairfield and Litchfield Counties in Connecticut.
“As I leave my post as executive director of this great organization, I know that it is being left in good hands with Alan Seidman,” said Sturgis. “Over the years, we have been able to achieve some terrific things, and I look forward to seeing how Alan continues this great work in the months and years to come.”
“While we are very sad to see Larry go, we are also excited about the possibilities as we work much more closely with the team at CCAHV,” said Steve Mulholland, chairman of the board of directors for SMACNA Southeastern New York. “We look forward to continuing our service to our members and promoting our industry throughout the region.”
CCAHV provides services for its members, along with developers and project owners in the construction industry. The association serves as a liaison to connect project owners with the right contractors to meet their needs. Over the years, the organization has forged a strong relationship with the Hudson Valley Building Trades Council to promote the use of project labor agreements in the appropriate situations.
