Founded in 1899 as Rockland Light & Power Co., it merged
with Orange and Rockland Electric Company in 1958 to
become Orange and Rockland Utilities. Along with its
subsidiary, Rockland Electric Company, it became wholly
owned by Consolidated Edison in 1999.
